Questions to ask while reading:

  • What is going on in this story/passage?
  • What excites, inspires, or encourages me about the passage?
  • What challenges, jolts, confuses or even offends me about the passage?
  • What does this tell me about the essence of God or the nature of Jesus?
  • How does this apply to my life? Is there a command to heed, characteristic of God to admire, sin to expose, or promise to cling to?
